Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community located in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. People unfamiliar with the term tend to think it's a isolated island to the west of Montreal although in actual fact, this part of West Island is home to anything and everything that is found in the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island, although this isn't the case. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa, Ontario. She had a dream to become a dancer, but an increase in her height meant she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. In an article that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. Once I outgrew male partners I stopped. In the case of Brugel it was the advice of an instructor in drama from her high-school that led her to start acting. It was her teacher who recommended her to audition in the role of Anne for their school's annual production. After trying out, she ended up as the leading lady of Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years she has had her appear in over 60 TV and film productions. The most well-known role was as Rita (shown here) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor to appear in Season 1 which was only seen on occasion.
